Welcome to the Glendale Community College Public Safety Sciences Department! This website is designed to inform you about the educational opportunities which can prepare you to join the workforce or continue education in a technical program at a university. Students can receive an Associate of Applied Science degree or a Certificate of Completion which prepares them for jobs in a variety of community businesses, agencies and public safety occupations.
In January 2010, the new Public Safety Sciences Building opened for classes. The building combines four distinct programs into a single complex including Emergency Medical Technology (EMT), Fire Science, Law Enforcement Operations (LEO) and Administration of Justice. It is a two-story, state-of-the-art building which houses not only classrooms and faculty offices, but also specialized training facilities such as an outer wall designed as a practice wall for fire students to scale and rappel. It also contains Defensive Tactics and Firearms Simulator classrooms. Needless to say, we are extremely proud of the new building and the opportunities it affords our students!
Other educational opportunities offered through the Public Safety Sciences Department are the Automotive Technology Program and the Tractor-Trailer Driving Program. If this is where your interests lie, we encourage you to check out their websites for more information.
We hope that you find the program that suits your educational direction and wish you success in whichever program you choose.
