SURVEY OF STUDENT EXPECTATIONS link to the Guide to Composition The questions for this optional, beginning-of-the-semester survey are partially derived from the Goal Ranking and Matching assessment technique found in Classroom Assessment Techniques by Angelo and Cross. Before administering this survey, instructors should have completed a review of their syllabi, course content, and their instructional goals for the class. Instructors should also explain to the students what the survey data will be used for and when it will be discussed. 1. Why are you taking this particular course? Is it a general education requirement for you or an elective? Why have you chosen this particular section and time? 2. List the specific things you expect to learn in this course and then rank them in order. (Number 1 indicates the highest priority.) 3. What concerns you the most about this course, and what would help diminish your anxiety? |
