ENGLISH COMPOSITION:
A Guide to the Possible Dream

Introduction

The GCC English Composition program is designed to help students improve their writing and clarify their thinking so that they are able to realize their educational and professional goals. Students, however, are sometimes confused about the way a college composition program works or are uncertain about which courses they should take.  A committee of English-composition instructors at GCC has prepared this Guide to provide students with useful information about our composition program so that they can participate in it with understanding and confidence. The Guide discusses general policies and procedures, describes courses and their basic requirements, and explains instructors' shared objectives and standards for evaluating students' work. We welcome you to composition at GCC and hope that your experience will be both useful and positive.
