Scholarship Challenge - In Honor of Pat Haas
We did it!  The Pat Haas Endowed Scholarship was the fastest a scholarship was fully funded ever at GCC!

Pat Haas was an English teacher who loved his work, his colleagues and his students and was loved, in turn, by so many.  Pat taught English in Kansas, Texas and at Rio Salado and Phoenix Colleges before finally becoming our colleague here at Glendale Community College in 1989. In fact, in a Voice article interviewing him the year he arrived at GCC, Pat said he had been trying to transfer to GCC, “ ‘for quite awhile,’ and called it ‘a blessing’ to finally be here.”  Altogether, Pat taught for MCCD for 22 years, specializing in teaching developmental students. He was a Vietnam War veteran, an avid motorcycle-enthusiast, an active parishioner at Sts. Simon and Jude, a caring father to three children and a wonderful husband. The great courage, good humor and deep faith Pat showed in his battle with lymphoma were an inspiration to all of us who knew him. Most of all, we wish to commemorate his generosity of character.  Read more of our memories of Pat.

One of the ways we keep Pat's memory alive is to present a student scholarship every year to a developmental student at GCC.   This  scholarship fund will remain in perpetuity, generating enough support to help GCC students for generations to come. His family has requested that all Pat Haas Scholarship money be awarded to developmental students. 

To contribute, print and fill out the Maricopa Colleges Foundation Gift Form.  Please check the first box under Gift and indicate you would like your gift applied to the Pat Haas Endowed Scholarship.

If giving by check:

• Be sure to write Pat Haas Scholarship in the memo section of the check. 
• Checks should be made payable to Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation

• Fill in the appropriate information on the Gift Form.

Payroll Deduction

• For a minimum of $4.55 per pay period, you can contribute $100 to the Pat Haas Scholarship simply by filling out this .  Of course, larger amounts are always welcome.
