Open
to all GCC students who want to explore their craft: poetry and
short stories
Drop-in visitors are always welcome.
The
club members meet the first and third Wednesdays of the month
from
3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Humanities Bldg. HU 103
for
literary fun, readings, discussion, and feedback.
- Share
your latest or proudest writings.
-
Get Feedback
on your writing and ideas, brainstorm further ideas, laugh, and
enjoy yourself with other individuals who possess similar interests.
-
Appreciate
some great writers and discuss useful writing techniques.
-
Join the
club and be enrolled on the Blackboard site filled with creative
writing information and references.
During
the meetings we share writing ideas, snacks, laughter, and motivation. Students choose to read their pieces aloud and others comment,
providing compliments and suggestions. Frequently, we will announce writing contests and discuss publication. Occasionally, we will have guest speakers, often local poets and
writers. Sometimes, we will go on field trips to experience the presentations
of local writers. Periodically, we will plan poetry and fiction slams and celebrations.
