Glendale College Blues

I hear that Friday's comin; I'm goin' round the bend,
And I ain't seen sunshine since I don't know when,
I'm stuck at Glendale College and NCA is draggin' on.
But my T  shirt keeps me going
Even when I have a moan.

When I was just a baby, my mama told us, "Kids,
Always be good children; don't end up on the skids."
But I wore a shirt in Reno, just to write some wrongs.
And when I see those letters glowin'
It makes me write my songs.

I bet there's other departments who envy us our T's
And they're prob'ly leaving early and livin' lives of ease
Still I know I've got my T shirt, though I can't wear it for free.
But if those people pay their dollar, *
They're all right with me.

(* which the folks on the distribution list do!)

Well, if they freed me from my grading, if that paradise was mine,
I bet I'd move a little farther on down the line,
Far from District Office, that's where I'd want to stay,
And I'd wear that purple T shirt
Until my retirement day.

(Cheers! Whistles! Applause! Raucous catcalls! All that stuff that you do best!)

“My Guy”

Nothing you could say
Can tear us away from our shirts,
Nothing you could do
'Cause we're stuck like glue to our shirts.

We'll be stickin' to our shirts like stamps to a letter
At 110 it's not gonna get better
But…write on!
We'll tell you from the start,
We can't be torn apart from our shirts.

Be careful what you write,
If you try to pick a fight with our shirts.
Once we were Rhetoric Rangers
And they don't come any stranger than our shirts.
We wear our shirts 'cause we're proud and bold
Who else but class acts could don purple and gold?
You'd best be believin'
The kudos we're receivin' for our shirts.

As a matter of a thesis,
I know we're tops
Our shirts are so much more than just mere props.
They work hard makin' money
So our scholars can be sunny
At GC.

Even Christian Dior would hesitate before our shirts,
As for Coco Channel, well,
We look simply swell in our shirts.
And though we may not conquer every comma-splice,
What we do manage comes at such a low price
There's not a bargain today in the education fray like our shirts.

So now we know it's time to pay our dime for our shirts
If we're going to write those wrongs,
We'd better visit Dawn about our shirts.
Yes, it's time once more to haul out our t's
Wearing them on Friday with graceful ease.
And now my song is done and the day's nearly come for our shirts…
