Purple Tees (Autumn Leaves)
by Pat Haas
December 2, 2004

The purple tees drift by my office

The purple tees with gold thereon…

I see your essays, the comma errors

The red ink marks I used to make.

Since you stopped coming by, for essays I long

And soon I hear ol’ winter’s song

But I miss you most of all my students

When purple tees are in my hall.

I see your essays, the comma errors

The red ink marks I used to make.

Since you stopped coming by, for essays I long

And I soon I hear ol’ winter’s song.

But I miss you most of all my students

When purple tees are in my hall.

Ever since my mid-life crisis
      December 2, 2004

Ever since my mid-life crisis
With everything going to pot
I figured I’d have to make things cool
So a t-shirt is what I got.

It makes me so groovy, baby.
I get so groovy,
I get so groovy, folks could cry.

Although it’s not yet Friday,
Just look around the room
We’re special English teachers
And know when to use “who” or “whom.”

Our tees make such an impression
There are whispers wherever we go
Where local fashionistas meet
The word is something like “Whoa!”

But as long as the dollars keep flowin’
Our purple’s the color to wear
We’ve helped so many students
Because you’re all willing to share

It makes us so groovy, baby
We get so groovy
We get so groovy, folks could cry.

Hey, now if you feel the mood a comin’
That it’s time no wrongs to write
Resolve to see Dawn tomorrow
And I’ll just say goodnight…

It makes us so groovy, baby
We get so groovy
We get so groovy, folks could cry….

God bless us every one
and Ruthie has left the building...
