Ruth's Remarkable Parodies

More Ruth's Remarkable Parodies

Well, *Cooleagues*!

As if last month's journey into Doris Day land wasn't enough, AGAIN I seem to have strayed to the wholesome side of town. I must be eating too much healthy food... Anyway, I do promise to try to return to the mean streets asap, but until then, you need to think wide open prairies, checked flannel shirts, barn raisin's and enough wheat to make a dozen loaves of Wonderbread for every man, woman and child on earth.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the surely inspiring Howard Keel knock off, "Oh, what a beautiful..." You get it!

There are bright purple shirts in the hallway
There are bright purple shirts in the hallway
The gold of our motto gladdens the eye,
An' it looks like the forty-fifth day's drawin' nigh…

Oh, what a beautiful Friday,
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I've got a beautiful feelin';
Spring break's just one week away.

All the students are starin' like statues.
All the students are starin' like statues;
They don't register much as I show them my slides,
But what's to expect? It's near March and the Ides.

Oh, what a beautiful Friday,
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I've got a beautiful feelin';
Spring break's just one week away.

All the new SIS tricks are maddening,
All the new SIS tricks are maddening;
But if we do well, then dear Leslie will smile
And we'll have evaded disaster again for awhile!

Oh, what a beautiful Friday,
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I've got a beautiful feelin;
Spring break's just one week away.
Oh, what a beautiful day.

Sigh.

As always, money to Dawn if you can write a check or actual $s to Carmie; otherwise, I don't know quite how to make sure all of the scholarships <http://www.gc.maricopa.edu/English/purpleshirts.htm> get their fair shares. Just as an update on Pat's though; remember that as of early this week, you can nominate students who have already successfully passed a developmental class, including reading. This should give us many more students to nominate for next year's award, so please bear it in mind.

Meanwhile, I'm off to bust a little sod! :-P
