Traveler
Guidelines for Writers

What:  The Traveler, Glendale Community College’s creative arts magazine, is now soliciting poetry, short stories, non-fiction, and short play manuscripts. 

First-, second-, and third-place winners will be honored on Student Recognition Day in April and will receive cash prizes.

Who:  Any currently enrolled GCC student, day or evening, may submit up to five poems and three other entries in other categories.

How:  Submit online at https://www.gc.maricopa.edu/traveler/submissions/   Names should appear on ENTRY FORMS ONLY, NOT ON MANUSCRIPTS.  Be certain that you have copies of your work because submissions will be destroyed after the publication of The Traveler. When:  Deadline for submitting material is Friday, November 14th, 2008 

Specific Nonfiction Requirements: 

The entry shall not exceed 2,000 words.  Please include word count on form.

Specific Fiction (short story) Requirements:

The entry shall not exceed 3,000 words.  Please include word count on form.

Specific Poetry Requirements:

The entry shall not exceed 60 lines.  Please include line count on form.

Specific Drama Requirements:

The entry shall not exceed 3,000 words, including stage directions and production notes.  Please include word count on form.

District Creative Writing competition forms (a different competition) are available in the 05 building lobby.  The same submissions can be used in both contests, but different submission forms must be filled out and the rules for each must be followed.  No late submissions will be accepted.
