Open by appointment 8:00 - 7:00
Mon. through Thurs.
Closed during Summer.
The Writing Center offers students
free 30-minute appointments with a faculty member to discuss their
writing. Most students bring in assignments that they're currently working
on, although they can also ask about prewriting, writing resumes, taking
essay tests effectively, general study skills, etc. Any writing in
any class -- lab reports, research papers, business writing, and so on --
is fair game.
How to Make an Appointment
-
Sign the Writing Center Appointment Book
located under the Writing Center sign in the D Building Tutoring Center.
-
Phone reservations cannot be accepted.
-
Walk-in
appointments are accepted if no other student has already signed up for
the time.
Appointments are for one 30-minute session. Fill
out the Appointment Slip and take it with you to remind you of
your session.
When You Come to Your Appointment:
- Please bring a legible copy of any work you
have done.
- Bring the instructor's handout/requirements for
the particular assignment.
Note that the Writing Center is set up to
help students who are currently working on a single assignment.
Students who need ongoing help with general English or writing skills
need to seek long-term tutoring services.
Electronic Writing Center
Students who can't make an
appointment can submit their essays electronically. A faculty
member will spend 30 minutes critiquing it, and then email the advice to
them, usually within 48 hours. Click to access the
Electronic Writing Center.
