Title: eCourses

Description:

eCourses (
http://www.gc.maricopa.edu/ecourses) is a web application that allows faculty to use a single point of entry for all online, hybrid and open entry students.  Glendale Community College offers many different alternative delivery courses and students are often confused on how to begin their course after they register.   Having a single starting point for all online, hybrid and open entry courses avoids confusion for students and allows faculty the flexibility to use various content delivery systems.  Faculty can update course information by logging into the eCourse website.

All online, hybrid and open entry courses are populated into a database that faculty can update through the eCourses web site.  Faculty authenticate against their Memo account which pulls up courses that they’re assigned to in the GCC Student Information System.  When Faculty login they will have access to courses that they are instructor of record for.  Faculty can then update specific information about their course such as, if the course uses a course management system, specific instructions on how to start the course as well as contact information for the instructor.

Students can quickly navigate the eCourses site to find a specific course and section number.  Each course and section number contains all of the course information that the instructor has updated as well as a link back to the official course schedule information.  Every page also contains information on how to enroll in a course online.

The eCourses web site improves upon the quality and effectiveness of education for students by providing them an efficient way to start their alternative delivery course.  The eCourse website organizes a collaborative effort for every department’s online, hybrid and open entry course
