Adjunct Faculty: In the Loop

Instruction and Assessment

[Cartoon: Jo Adjunct takes up her masonry tools to build the great syllabus wall.] Are you wondering how you should get started when it comes to syllabus design? What are course competencies anyway, and where can they be found?

In the weeks and days before class, what should you be doing to prepare? For that matter, what should you do on the first day of class? What can you expect, and what will be expected of you?

The Instruction and Assessment volume will put you at ease on these matters. Not only will you get sound advice on developing your syllabus, you will also get some great samples of syllabi used by your peers. Use these as templates to build your own syllabi!

This section will become a valuable resource as the semester progresses. You may find yourself coming back here again and again with questions about how you should deal with disruptive students, or how to handle makeup tests.

By the way, did you know that your students get a chance to evaluate you too? Click onward to learn more...
