WELCOME TO FALL 2003
Welcome to the Fall 2003 Semester.  To those of you returning to teach again at GCC, it's good to have you back again!  To those of you that are new to GCC, welcome to our campus, which I think you'll find is an enjoyable place to teach and learn.  For those of you that don't yet know me, my name is Jim Hamilton and I am your representative on the President's Advisory Committee.  I also publish this newsletter and represent you at the Adjunct Faculty Association each month.  If you have any questions or issues you would like to discuss, please don't hesitate to contact me by phone at 623-845-3518 or by sending me e-mail at jim.hamilton@gcmail.maricopa.edu.  Here's to a wonderful Fall Semester for all of us!
ADJUNCT FACULTY ORIENTATIONS
There will be two orientations held this fall for all GCC adjunct faculty.  Attending this two-hour seminar will be one of the best things you can possibly do for yourself to make the coming semester one of your most enjoyable ever.  Why?  Because in the short span of a couple of hours, you will hear directly from representatives of all major departments on campus and be able to meet with many of your co-workers face-to-face for the first time.  It doesn't matter whether you teach one course or several, or whether you've been here for one semester or many, you will learn the answers to any questions you might have about GCC and your job ... all in one convenient location!  The orientations are scheduled to be held in the GCC Student Lounge on August 18, 2003 (Monday) from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and on August 22, 2003 (Friday) from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.  To register for one of the orientations, please contact Karen Minnihan by phone (623-845-3400) or by e-mail (karen.minnihan@gcmail.maricopa.edu).  Mark your calendars now for this important event!

This past Spring Semester saw the launch of a new web-site that was developed exclusively for the adjunct faculty at GCC.  In one convenient location, you will find a plethora of information that will provide answers to most (if not all) of your questions as well as many handy ideas and tips for making your professional life a whole lot easier.  You will find this veritable cornucopia of information at:

ADJUNCT FACULTY ASSOCIATION FALL CONFERENCE 2003
The annual fall conference for all MCCCD adjunct faculty will be held on October 25, 2003 (Saturday) in the Turquoise Room at Scottsdale Community College.  Dr. Mark Milliron, President and CEO of the League for Innovation in the Community College, will be the keynote speaker.  Dr. Milliron is internationally recognized for his books and publications about education in the community college environment and he is a fascinating and knowledgeable speaker.  His lecture on "The Learning Dialogs" will be followed by several different workshops on a variety of pertinent topics (admission is free and includes a catered lunch).  Look for upcoming event and registration information on the AFA website:
