TO SUMMER I SEMESTER
Welcome
to the Summer I Semester. To those of you returning to teach again
at GCC, it's good to have you back again! To those of you that are
new to GCC, welcome to our campus, which I think you'll find is an enjoyable
place to teach and learn. For those of you that don't yet know me,
my name is Jim Hamilton and I am your GCC contact for any adjunct related
concerns you might have. I also publish this newsletter and represent
you at the Adjunct Faculty Association each month. If you have any
questions or issues you would like to discuss, please don't hesitate to

ADJUNCT
FACULTY ORIENTATION
Last January, there were three adjunct
faculty orientations held for all interested adjuncts (and there will be
two more held this fall). The first of these orientations was captured
for posterity on videotape and several copies are now available for checkout
at the Library Media Center video counter (located in the NE section of
the Library). The video is a little over two hours long and
is chock full of useful information presented by the President, the Deans,
and the various departmental Directors. Whether or not you are new
to GCC, I promise that you'll find this orientation well worth your while
... so check one out today and give it a play!

This
past Spring Semester saw the launch of a new web-site that was developed
exclusively for the adjunct faculty at GCC. In one convenient location,
you will find a plethora of information that will provide answers to most
(if not all) of your questions as well as many handy ideas and tips for
making your professional life a whole lot easier. You will find this
veritable cornucopia of information at:

for you on-line! If you don't find what you're looking for, or have
any comments or suggestions, please take a few moments to let us know by
using the feedback link located in the lower right-hand corner of each

MAKE SURE
YOUR PERSONAL CONTACT INFORMATION IS UP-TO-DATE
It is important that your contact information
be kept current and up-to-date. If you haven't already done so, please
take a moment to check with your department secretary to make sure that
they have the correct emergency info and that all of your necessary paperwork
is on file as well. If you need to make any changes, you can do so
either through your department secretary or by contacting Employee Resources.
SPRING HAS
SPRUNG AND SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE
I hope that the Spring 2003 semester
was a successful one for everyone. Those of you that will be returning
to teach either of the summer semesters, look for the Summer 2003 issues
of Postcards from the Adjunct to stay informed and up-to-date on what's
going on around GCC and the District. If you are not teaching this
summer, then I hope you will have an enjoyable break and I look forward
to seeing you back here next Fall.
