Exit Oracle Application

MENU - (KEY) ACTIONS
\Exit Return Returns to form without exiting.
\Exit Save Saves Changes since last save, exits the application, zoom, or browse session.
\Exit Discard [Exit/Cancel] Discards Changes since last save, exits the application, zoom, or browse session.


Form Help

Helpful Hints

\Row Erase or [Row Erase] or [Exit\Cancel] When usable to proceed, one of these will usually get you out of trouble
\Screen Refresh [Screen Refresh] Refresh screen to clear system messages.
\Row Who Identify who created or last updated a row


Menu & Form Navigation

Menu Navigation

(KEY) ACTION
[\] Displays or cancels a menu.
[Left Arrow] Moves Menu cursor to the left.
[Right Arrow] Moves Menu cursor to the right.
[Return] Selects the choice highlighted by the cursor.
First Letter of any
menu Choice
Selects the menu choice beginning with that letter or reduces list if more than one choice begins with letter.
[Up Arrow] Moves you to a previous sub-menu or cancels the main menu.
[Down Arrow] Moves you to next sub-menu.

Note: Arrows (< or >) indicate hidden menu choices at either end of the menu line

Field & Data Entry Methods

Field Types

Type Description
Display - only Displays a value and is not editable.
Data Allows a single value to be entered.
Key Flexfield Stores specific business information that is represented as a code or a multi-segment value.
Descriptive Flexfield [] Provides customizable space on a form to collect information not tracked by Oracle


Data Entry Methods

Method Menu - (Key) Description
Manual Type data into a field.
Edit \ Field Edit Displays entire contents of a field. Press [Save/Commit] to exit field editor.
\ Field Mode
[Ins-Replace]
Change editing modes -
Insert - Replace.
Copy \ Field Copy Copy data from a field in the previous row
\ Row Copy Copy data from a field in the previous row.
QuickPick \ Field QuickPick
[QuickPick]
Select a value from a list of value choices (See QuickPick)
Alias List will display if predefined Select option to autofill or partially fill a field


Date Manipulation

Type Menu - Key Description
Insert row \ Row Insert Creates new blank row below current row.

Clear data from screen

Row \ Row Erase
[Row Erase]
Clears data from all fields in current row.
Zone \ Zone Erase Clears data from all fields in current zone.
Screen \ Screen Erase Clears all data, except default values, from current screen.


Delete Data permanently from database

Field \ Field Delete Deletes data in current field. Save changes to permanently remove data from database.
Row \ Row Delete
[Row Erase]
Deletes data from the current row. Save changes to remove data from database.

Query Data

Query Option

(Note: Data Queries are case sensitive)

Menu - (Key) Description
\ Query Enter
[Enter Query]
Enters Query Mode. Enter search criteria in desired field. Press [Execute Query]
\ Query Run
[Execute Query]
Executes a search. If this option is selected without first invoking Enter Query mode, a full query (without search criteria) is performed.
\ Query Count Counts total number of marching records found in a zone.
[Count Query Hits] When search criteria has been entered in Query mode, counts the total number of records that will be retrieved if the query is executed.
\ Query Next Retrieves next set of records from a search.
\ Query Quit
[Exit/Cancel]
Ends current search and exits from Query mode.


Query Data Based on Flexfield Criteria

Query Operators

Wildcard Characters

Character Meaning Example
% Represents any character or group of characters Manuf% can represent Manufacturing Manufacturer, etc.
_ Represents any single character Product_ can represent Product A, Product1, etc.


Display Records Retrieved from Query

\ Row Next [Down Arrow] Displays next record.
\ Row prior [Up Arrow] Displays previous record.
\ Query Next [next Set Rows] Displays next page of records


QuickPick

QuickPick Navigation

Menu - (Key) Action
[QuickPick] Invokes a QuickPick list; also closes a QuickPick window
\ Field QuickPick Invokes a QuickPick list except in a flexfield
[Up Arrow] Moves the cursor up the list.
[Down Arrow] Moves the cursor down the list.
[Return] Selects the choice highlighted by the cursor.
Any alphanumeric character(s) Shortens list to values beginning with the character(s). If only one value, AutoSelection selects the value.
[Left Arrow] Expands a reduced list.


QuickPick Search

(Note: QuickPick Searches NOT case sensitive)

Search a QuickPick List

1. \ Field QuickPick
[QuickPick]
Displays QuickPick List
2. Enter %. Press [Return] Displays Search Window
3. Enter search string Followed by %. Press [Return] Reduces list to values matching search criteria


Search directly from QuickPick field

Enter % search string directly into field. Press [Return]. Displays list of values matching search string.

Access Options

Menu Description
\ User Responsibility Charge responsibility to access a different application.
\ User Signon Sign on as a different user.
\ User Password Modify the current user's password.
\ User Menu Access a Lotus-style or Macintosh-style menu.
