PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
1988-current PHYSICS INSTRUCTOR full-time
Glendale Community College Glendale,
Arizona
Responsible for teaching the university-level physics sequence
lab and lecture.
Responsible for teaching the college-level physics sequence lab
and lecture.
1987 1988 PHYSICS INSTRUCTOR full-time
Mesa Community College Mesa, Arizona
Responsible for teaching the college-level physics sequence lab
and lecture.
Responsible for teaching the university-level physics labs.
1976 1986 LOG ANALYST II Dresser Atlas full-time
Dallas, Texas Denver, Colorado
Responsible for computer process, assembly, analysis cataloging
of oil well log data.
Extensive digitizing and input by magnetic tape and manually.
PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
- Developed a remedial physics course
(PHY090) and wrote accompanying manual. (1996)
- I wrote physics lab manual combining
physics and spreadsheets at college/university physics level.
It is continuously updated for new equipment or software. It
is currently being updated for Excel7 (1989 current)
- I wrote a university physics handout
sheet book. (1990 current)
- I wrote the Arizona Science Project
Book that is designed to help junior and senior high school students
with their science projects.
- I have conducted seminars on the use
of spreadsheets on a community college level.
- I have produced a student spreadsheet
disk on various topics such as energy, force, resistance, capacitance,
lens, and mirrors.
- I have run the Physics Lab for the
State Science Olympiad for since 1989.
I served on the Science Expo committee for 4 years (1992-1996).
- I have served on the Physical Science
Articulation Taskforce for as lead ATF member for MCCD (1992
current)
As a log analyst I created a method of correcting marginal acoustic
data using bulk density, neutron, and gamma ray data. In analysis
of coal seams in oil wells I was able to prove that the existing
programs and their physical models were wrong. I developed a
new model based on programs to handle such data.
I created a database for all analyzed wells using existing programs
in nontraditional ways to avoid extensive data entry and sorting.
This data base was used for reference and comparison studies.
Data retrieval time and reduced by 80%.
