AAS DEGREE - Associate of Applied Science Degree Program
Program Overview:
The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Automotive Technology is designed to prepare students for employment as automotive technicians. Instruction is given in both the theoretical and practical aspects of automotive operation, maintenance, and service. Directed lab activities provide experience in transmissions, differentials, fuel systems (both conventional and electronic), brakes, air conditioning, automotive electricity/electronics, diagnosis, emission control, engine service, suspension and steering systems. Modern, fully equipped facilities provide students with excellent opportunities for pre-employment experience.
Glendale's Associate of Applied Science Degree in Automotive Technology is an excellent path to an exciting career in the growing and dynamic field of auto repair. The traditional A.A.S. program typically requires 2 years to complete, but students may take courses at their own pace. This degree program consists of approximately 50 credit hours of Automotive Technology Training and 18 credit hours of General Education Requirements
Students interested in completing the program in a shorter time may be interested in the Modular Accelerated Automotive Program (M.A.A.P.) which allows for completion of the automotive requirements of the A.A.S. degree in as little as eleven months by offering automotive classes on a more aggressive schedule with extended classroom and lab hours. Please click on the "MAAP" link above for more details.
Students who wish to specialize in one or more specific areas without completing the entire A.A.S. degree program have the option of attaining Certificates of Completion in 3 available areas. Please click on the “Certificates” link at the top of the page for more information.
