GMASEP

Program Overview:

The GM ASEP program teaches exclusively on current GM products. The curriculum is specifically focused on GM vehicle technology and students gain GM experience as they alternate between college classes and real-world on-the-job training at their supporting dealerships. Half of each semester (approximately 8 weeks) the ASEP student is taking intensive classes at Glendale, the other half of the semester he or she is in the dealership, working alongside experienced dealership technicians who serve as his or her mentors.

The ASEP instructors at Glendale are factory trained and certified by GM to meet both ASEP and Automotive Service Excellence/National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (ASE/NATEF) requirements, ensuring that our training meets or exceeds industry standards. Instructors are required to update their skills annually and meet challenging and constantly evolving standards.

GM provides new vehicles, training components, training aids and factory special tools for students to work with and learn from in a closely supervised and structured environment.

Students and GM Dealers receive credit for a majority of the GM Service Technical College curriculum upon successful graduation.

Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac dealers are encouraged to participate! Beginning Fall 2005, ACDelco Total Service Support service centers are also eligible to sponsor GM ASEP students.

GM ASEP is a strategic alliance between students, Glendale Community College, GM, and local General Motors dealers. Since 1980, the GM ASEP program at Glendale has produced scores of successful dealer technicians, each with an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Automotive Technology.
