FORD ASSET - Automotive Student Service Educational Training

ASSET is an apprenticeship program designed to prepare individuals to work as automotive service technicians at Ford or Lincoln dealerships. The Associate of Applied Science degree is the result of a strong partnership between Ford Motor Company, Glendale Community College, and the Ford and Lincoln Dealers. ASSET students attend 8-week sessions of classroom and laboratory practice at GCC, followed by 14 weeks of full-time paid cooperative work experience at the student's sponsoring dealership. This process allows the student to apply recent technical knowledge in a professional dealership environment. The total program takes just over one and a half years to complete, with 32 weeks spent at GCC and 52 weeks at the student's sponsoring dealership.

The Ford ASSET program is an alliance among Ford Motor Company, Ford and Lincoln dealers, And Glendale Community College. The ASSET program allows technical and vocational students to get on-the-job training at a sponsoring Ford or Lincoln dealership while earning an Associates Degree in Automotive Technology.

Ford Motor Company supplies Glendale Community College with a plethora of vehicles, training aids, and special tools to assist in the students' training experience. As well a providing current service literature, Ford also cooperates with the college to develop specific and targeted curriculum. This assures students that they will receive the latest training relevant to their future career. Completion of the ASSET program also satisfies a number of Ford Dealer training requirements.

Additionally, Ford requires that ASSET instructors meet very rigorous training standards and that they are constantly updating their technical knowledge and skills through extensive Ford factory training courses.
