Requirements to Teach Biology in a Maricopa Community College
- Master's degree in biology or
- Master's degree in any academic field with at least 24 upper division and/or graduate semester hours in biology or
- Master's degree in any academic field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in biology
- Completion of EDU 250 (Overview of the Community Colleges) within two years of hiring date.
If you meet these minimum hiring qualifications and are interested in a part-time teaching position at GCC, you should send a resume, copies of teaching certification and all college transcripts to Emily Haigh (Biology Department Secretary). You will be contacted by someone in our department for a teaching interview if your background fits our needs.
Please note that the application process for part-time and full-time positions are separate and different. Openings for full-time faculty positions at any of the ten colleges in the Maricopa County Community College District are posted by the district human resources department. If you are interested in a full-time teaching position, you will need to complete the district's online application for any job listed.
In contrast, the hiring of adjunct (part-time) faculty is handled completely at the college level and by the individual academic departments. Thus submitting the information requested above to our department secretary is the most effective way to be considered for any teaching positions the Biology department may have available.
