Project Overview

In this instructional unit, students will study the characteristics of the major terrestrial biomes. They will use archival and real time weather data of various geographic locations to construct climatographs and determine their respective biomes. They will also have the opportunity to collaborate electronically with students in other locales to learn more about biogeographic similarities and differences in various parts of the globe.

Objectives:

After completing this project, the participants will be able to:
  1. describe the characteristics of the major terrestrial biomes
  2. collect climate data and construct climatographs
  3. recognize major biomes from corresponding climatographs
