Lesson 7 - Using a Color Scheme

Lesson 7 - Using a Color Scheme

Getting Started:

The colors that you use in your presentation can make a really big difference as to how well your presentation is received.  Additionally, the colors that are selected can make your audience take notice of your presentation or even take too much notice of the colors and not enough notice to the content.  In this lesson you will use PowerPoint's color scheme feature to adjust the appearance of a presentation.

Reading / Practice

This chapter covers how to:

  • View the color scheme
  • Choose a different color scheme
  • Change the colors in your color scheme
  • Create a new color scheme
  • Add new color to the color menu
  • Add and change a background

Read Chapter 7 - Using a Color Scheme, Page 167 through the section titled "Short Answer" page 185.  As you read these pages you will be using Microsoft PowerPoint 2003.  There are no Special Notes for this chapter.

  Self Check

What color scheme element in the Edit Color Scheme dialog box, provides the color for the canvas or drawing area of the slide?

What color scheme element in the Edit Color Scheme dialog box, provides the color for the text of the slide?

What color scheme element in the Edit Color Scheme dialog box, provides the color for unvisited hyperlinks on the slide?

What would you select from the color menu if you wanted to add a new color to a color menu?
