    Read and do the practice work for the "Sound and Video" chapter.

Practice Work
  1. Start Flash
  2. Save the file as BUTTONS.
  3. Set the Width to 300px the Height to 200px, leave the background as white.
  4. Rename the layer to "buttons"
  5. Create a button symbol, named mybutton.
  6. Edit the mybutton symbol and create a circle radial gradiant for the up state, a red radial gradiant for the over state, a reduced radial gradiant for the down state and use the up state for the hit state.
  7. Return to the Scene and insert 4 instances of the mybutton symbol. Align each instance into the top-left, top-right, bottom-left and bottom-right corner.
  8. Use the scale tool to resize each instance.
  9. Use the text tool to label each button. Refer to the image below.
  10. Use the effects panel to (refer to the image below for help):
    • Tint Button1 yellow
    • Reduce the brightness of Button2
    • Make Button3 nearly transparent
    • Tint Button4 blue
  11. Save the file.
  12. Test the movie by using the Test Movie command from the Control menu.
  13. Compare to the image below

  1. Create a new file and use the necessary tools to replicate the swf file below.

  2. Movie and Instance Properties
    • Movie Width: 300px
    • Movie Height: 200px
    • Using the Practice file, Buttons incorporate Movie Clip Symbols into the over and down state of the button symbol, mybutton.
    • The movie clip symbol over should be a circle with radial gradiant that is off center. The movie clip symbol should spin clockwise over 20 frames, so that the center of the gradiant rotates around the edge of the circle.
    • The movie clip symbol down should be a circle with radial gradiant that is off center. The movie clip symbol should spin counter clockwise over 7 frames as well as scale down in size.
  3. Save the file as CIS120DC11
