  • Foundation Flash MX
    Read and do the work for "Color and Images" chapter.

 

Lesson 5
Practice Work
  1. Start Flash
  2. Save the File as SPACE
  3. Display the rulers with the snap to option on
  4. Set the Width to 300px the Height to 200px, leave the background as white
  5. Download the following image by right-clicking over it and selecting Save Picture As ..

    (space.jpg 2kb)

  6. In Flash, select Import from the File menu, select the space.jpg and click OK
  7. With the Bitmap selected, select Break Apart from the Modify menu
  8. Resize the shape to cover the entire stage
  9. Use the Paint Bucket Tool with the Transform Fill option, to tile the bitmap fill and reduce the blurriness
  10. Download the following image by right-clicking over it and selecting Save Picture As ..

  11. In Flash, select Import from the File menu, select the saturn.jpg and click OK
  12. With the Bitmap selected, select Trace Bitmap from the Modify menu, use the following settings
    • Color Threshold: 100
    • Minimum Area: 2
    • Curve Fit: Normal
    • Corner Threshold: Normal
  13. Group the shape
  14. Edit the Grouped shape
  15. Delete the black background and return to Scene1
  16. Use the Scale tool to resize the Saturn shape to fill the stage
  17. Use the Rotate tool to tilt the Saturn shape to the right
  18. Open the Library panel and delete the saturn.jpg bitmap image. The only image in the Library panel should be the space.jpg image. Delete any others if necessary. Because the saturn image was re-created using the Trace Bitmap command we no longer need the original saturn.jpg file.
  19. Compare your screen to the following screen shot



  20. Save and Close the file

 

Lesson 5
Assignment
  1. Create a new file and use the necessary tools to replicate the image below.



  2. Import the spaceship.gif and use the Trace Bitmap tool to create a new shape. Group the new shape and then duplicate it 3 times, each with their own radial fill pattern.
  3. The Library panel should only contain the space.jpg file. Just as in the practice you should be able to delete all other images from the library panel.
  4. Necessary Image Files

    (spaceship.gif 2kb) (saturn.jpg 2kb) (space.jpg 2kb)

  5. Movie Properties
    • Movie Width: 400px
    • Movie Height: 200px
  6. Save the file as CIS120DC05
