Website Background: This website was created as a quick and easy startup for you to use before trying Maricopa's Blackboard system. Your initial GBS151 information will be stored here - and the rest will soon be made available in Blackboard (so learn how to access Blackboard ASAP!). The image you see above is intended to remind you that now more than ever, you are a member of the world community - and that you will need to find your place in the global knowledge workforce. Your future success may well depend upon this valuable perspective!

About the Course: From the description above, you can see that my sections of this course have become increasingly global - because the business world is changing fast. And every semester, my class is also becoming more experiential, since business concepts and terminology will make better sense if you can actively "experience" as much as possible. So you will be using computers, trying business simulations, working on projects and analyzing situations in teams, etc. While doing this, you will have the opportunity to interact with other business students around the world. These are also the types of experiences employers want to see!

Important Documents/Websites:

• GBS151 Textbook - Foundations of Business by Pride, Hughes, & Kapoor (this is also the publisher's student website). There is a new edition of GCC's GBS151 textbook for this semester. This textbook has much new and helpful information - and may be worth the extra $15 you would have paid last semester between a new or used book at the bookstores. However, for my classes, you have several other options:
  • New 2nd edition 2011 textbook (stones on black cover), as sold in the two GCC bookstores - most current information.
  • Used 1st edition 2009 textbook (bottle on blue cover) available from students who had this course last semester. If you use the old textbook, you may need to visit the GCC Library a few times during the semester to access the updated textbook information and assignments.
  • Rental or Online options (need credit card) - just visit iChapters.com for more information. You are on your own here since your instructor has no experience with these options yet!
