COURSE SYLLABUS ACKNOWLEDGMENT

CLAUSE ONE: Policies and procedures

I acknowledge that I have read the course syllabus for the CIS164AG course. I understand the attendance and academic requirements and policies. I also understand that there are other policies in the Glendale Community College course catalog that I should read and follow. CLAUSE TWO: Time and work commitment

Furthermore, I recognize that this course being a COLLEGE course and a hands-on course (involving both reading and hands on work on the computer), will require a minimum of 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours outside of class for each hour in class in order to successfully complete the course. CLAUSE THREE: Instructor's Philosophy

And I understand that the instructor views the customer to be society, the product to be the student and the instructor to be the craftsman that is attempting to help develop and produce a quality product. This process of creating a better end product is a team process that involves both the student and the instructor. Any feedback as to how the instructor can better do his task is always appreciated. CLAUSE FOUR: Instructor's Expectations for Students

I will attempt to meet the instructor's expectations for this semester.

Acquire the books and disks needed in for this class before the start of the second class session.
Attend class on a regular basis (see Attendance)
Be ready for class by the start of the class time.
Turn off any pagers on phones when in class.
Turn off the computer monitor during class sessions when the instructor indicates "monitors off".
Stay in class until class is finished (on lab days you may leave once you have handed in the lab work and project assignment for that day).
Bring the appropriate text book(s) or manuals to class.
Bring appropriate disks to every lab class.
Bring pen (or pencil) and paper to class.
Avoid personal "chit-chat" during lecture and exam time.
Remember (if needed write down and bring to class) special login codes and passwords.

CLAUSE FIVE: Student's Expectations from the Instructor

I realize that the instructor wants me to be successful in this class and is committed to try to assist me by:

Conducting class in a fashion that will facilitate a variety of learning styles

Being prepared for each class (lecture or lab) session.

Making productive use of class time.

Being at the classroom a few minutes before the start of class.

Providing a gradebook through the Web that is updated on a weekly basis.

Grade and return assignments in a fair and reasonably quick amount of time.

Answer any questions that relate to the class topic.

Responding to voice mail and e-mail in a timely manner.

Providing exams on the more important items - items covered in either the class session or the text.

Not embarrassing any individual for any mistakes or questions.

Holding individuals accountable for not meeting the expectations that the instructor has for students.

Treat each and every student with respect as an individual person who is here to learn.
