Programs and Courses

General Program for Exploratory Students

Student Goals: General Education, Transfer

This program is suggested for students who wish to explore educational and/or occupational opportunities, or students who wish to pursue a broad two-year program of college courses. The following guidelines suggest which degree might be the appropriate goal.

AA Degree: This degree is appropriate for students who intend to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a baccalaureate degree. Students are encouraged to select a major as soon as possible. (Once a major is chosen, students are urged to consult with an academic advisor in order to plan an appropriate program pathway.)

AGS Degree: This degree is appropriate for students who wish to explore a broad range of subjects for personal satisfaction without intending to transfer to a four-year institution.

AAS: Students who decide to pursue the Associate in Applied Science degree in a specialized career program should consult with a faculty advisor for that program as soon as possible after the decision is made.

Transferability: Students planning to transfer to a four-year institution should consult with an academic advisor to determine transferability of their course choices, as well as the appropriateness of those choices for meeting the lower division requirements of specific curricula at four-year institutions.
