GER101
Elementary German I / 4 credits 4 periods
Basic grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary of the German language. Includes the study of German culture, practice of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Prerequisites: None. (F,S,D,E,Su1,O)
GER102
Elementary German II / 4 credits 4 periods
Continued study of grammar and vocabulary of the German language along with the study of German culture. Emphasis on German language skills. Prerequisites: GER101 or equivalent. (S,D,E,F,O,Su2,O)
GER115
Beginning German
Conversation I / 3 credits 3 periods
Conversational German. Basic sentence structure, pronunciation and vocabulary necessary to develop speaking ability in German. Designed for students seeking speaking and listening abilities with little emphasis on grammar. Prerequisites: None. (F,E,O,Su1,O)

Beginning German
Conversation II / 3 credits 3 periods
Continued development of speaking and listening skills for effective communication in German. Prerequisites: GER115, one year of high school German, or department approval. (S,E,O,Su2,O)

Intermediate German I / 4 credits 4 periods
Review of essential grammar of the German language and study of the German culture. Continued practice and development of reading, writing, and speaking skills. Prerequisites: GER102, two years of high school German, or departmental approval. (F,DO,EO)

Continued development of German language skills and continued study of the German culture. Prerequisites: GER201, or equivalent, or departmental approval. (S,DO,EO)
