International Studies and Foreign Languages
Student Goals: Personal Interest, General Education
The primary goal of this program is to prepare students by providing them with an understanding of other nations and of the global problems which must be solved. It is built around a cross-disciplinary approach to general education requirements. The student, in close consultation with the faculty advisor, can select from a wide range of university-transfer courses which will attempt to focus his or her attention and understanding on a broader world view, addressing many of the problems of modern man—their history, how they have developed, and what possible solutions or directions may be adopted. At the same time, the program stresses the obvious linguistic, social, and cultural differences which are at the heart of each society. The curriculum is strongly oriented toward foreign languages, general education (social sciences and humanities), and a wide range of business courses which include international aspects. The following is a list of courses which have an international content.
