Agribusiness - Associate in Applied Science (AAS) / 66-68 credits
Agribusiness sales and service employment is in non-farming agricultural occupations such as agricultural machinery and equipment, agricultural chemicals, animal feeds and supplies, and the production and marketing of farm products. Most of the effort to increase farm output will probably be borne by agribusiness. Since farm output will be higher there will be more work to do in preparing and marketing grains, meats, sugar, and all other products that farmers produce.
Program Description: This program is designed to prepare students for entry level employment in agricultural business occupations. The program also provides a broad base for advanced studies and specialization at a senior institution. Students should see an Agriculture advisor in selecting courses for their specific interest areas.
Transferability: General transferability of agriculture courses into ASU's College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Division of Agriculture, and into University of Arizona's College of Agriculture.
Note: Required courses may not be available every semester, students, degree seeking or transfer, should consult with a department advisor in planning their academic schedule in order to complete degree requirements in an expedient manner. To complete this program, students may be required to take both day and evening courses.
Required Courses: 23 credits
Students must earn a grade of "C" or better for each course listed in the Required Courses category.

Urban Horticulture - Associate in Applied Science (AAS) / 65-69 credits
Urban Horticulture employment is in non-farming agricultural occupations such as greenhouse and nursery management, commercial and residential landscaping, and parks and golf course maintenance. As the Phoenix area becomes more urbanized there will be an increased need for specialized services in the broad field of Urban Horticulture.
Program Description: The Urban Horticulture AAS program emphasizes the technology of production and management. The program is designed to prepare students for employment as technicians, managers, or owners in nurseries or landscape construction companies. There are also opportunities in parks and golf course maintenance. In addition, the program prepares students for jobs with government agencies or other agencies involved with the technical phases of the urban horticulture industry.
Three specialized tracks are available: Landscape Design and Installation, Nursery Operations, and Landscape Management. The tracks require varying credits of coursework.
Accreditation:
- Arizona Landscape Contractors’ Association
- Arizona Nursery Association
- Arizona Structural Pesticide Certification Program
- Cactus Pine Golf Course Superintendents Association
- Certified Turfgrass Professional
Note: Due to limited availability of courses, students should consult with a department advisor in planning their academic schedule in order to complete degree requirements in an expedient manner.
