Introduction
Message from the President
Greetings!
As our 2009-2010 academic year begins, our exceptional faculty and staff join me in extending to you a warm welcome to Glendale Community College (GCC). Whether you are a returning student, just beginning your college adventure or taking advantage of our lifestyle-enrichment courses, GCC offers you a quality learning experience designed to empower you to advance your education, career opportunities and personal goals.
GCC has provided more than 350,000 students with educational excellence since 1965. Today, that tradition continues as you and more than 30,000 other current students benefit from the expertise of hundreds of experienced faculty members who are dedicated to helping you achieve your goals within a fulfilling and enriching educational environment. GCC's courses and programs prepare you to complete your associate's degree or certificate of completion, transfer to other colleges and universities, begin your career or advance your current profession, and make your life more satisfying, enriching and rewarding.
College life at GCC includes the opportunity to experience a variety of intercollegiate athletic programs, campus clubs and organizations, social events, service outreaches, and activities designed to strengthen your skills in personal interaction and leadership.
Your opportunities abound at both the GCC main and GCC North campuses. At GCC North, expanded facilities that opened in 2008 include the fitness center, bookstore, cafeteria, library, computer commons, laboratory sciences and student study spaces. At GCC main, new resources include the three-story, Life Sciences building that houses the departments of Biology, Nursing and Psychology. Additionally, the two-story Business building will be newly re-opened with 15 corporate style classrooms in 2009.
Indeed, GCC offers you many resources to advance your learning. This general catalog and student handbook, along with our website at www.gccaz.edu are useful tools to guide you in your exploration and discovery of what awaits you. In addition, please feel free to speak with the hundreds of helpful faculty members and staff who are here to contribute to your success.
Again, welcome to GCC, and best wishes for success on your academic journey!

Velvie Green, Ph.D.
President
