These open entry/open exit and traditional structured courses develop skills in using IBM and/or Macintosh microcomputers and their related software. Students take these courses:
- For Personal Development of microcomputer skills. Beginning courses are available, such as BPC101 (introductory), 110 (computer operations), 111 (keyboarding), 114 (spreadsheets), 117 (databases), and 128 (desktop publishing). Students may wish to continue in more advanced courses.
- To Prepare for or Enhance Employment. Both an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree program and a Certificate of Completion program are available. With proper choices, a student who completes the Certificate may apply all those courses toward the Associate Degree program. For either program, students should consult with a department advisor to plan their academic schedules.
Note: Required courses may not be available every semester, students, degree seeking or transfer, should consult with a department advisor in planning their academic schedule in order to complete degree requirements in an expedient manner.

Microcomputer Business Applications
Associate in Applied Science (AAS) / 66-71 credits
Program Description: The program for the AAS degree in Microcomputer Business Applications consists of 64 credits in courses which can be completed within 2 years. The program includes courses in the following microcomputer areas: general usage and application, operating systems, word processing, database, and spreadsheets. Other skills which are integrated with the microcomputer training are Accounting, English, Math (including statistics), and business systems analysis and design. As many of the courses as possible are offered in the open entry/open exit format, to enable students to enter and complete the program in a timely and flexible manner.

Microcomputer Applications Certificate / 27-31 credits
Program Description: The program for the CCL in Microcomputer Applications consists of 27-31 credits, which can be completed in 2 semesters. The program includes courses in the following microcomputer areas: general usage and applications, operating systems, word processing, database, and spreadsheets. Other business skills, which are integrated with the microcomputer training, are accounting, business calculations and English. As many of the courses as possible are offered in the open entry/open exit format to enable students to enter and complete the program in a timely and flexible manner. Upon completion, students should be able to operate a microcomputer and use a variety of software in a professional manner.

Required Courses: 20-23 credits
Students must earn a grade of "C" or better for each course listed in the Required Courses category. Students must obtain a satisfactory score on math placement test to enroll in MAT120, MAT121, or MAT122.

Technical aspects of the microcomputer, including system setup (hardware and software) and basic troubleshooting. Emphasis on basic troubleshooting, use of tools, hardware components and hardware/software interfacing.

Advanced technical aspects of maintaining and servicing computers. Emphasis placed on installation, periodic maintenance, diagnosis, and/or problem resolution. Helps prepare students for the CompTIA A+ technician examinations including Information Technology (IT) field technician, remote support technician and bench technician. Prerequisites: BPC170 with grade of C or better, or permission of instructor.
