| Behavioral Health Sciences (BHS) Course |
The Counseling Center offers a Behavioral Health (BHS) Course. The field of Behavioral Health Services is growing rapidly in Arizona and throughout the United States. According to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau, job opportunites for social and human service assistants are expected to grow "much faster than average" (37% or more) while job opportunities in social assistance are expected to increase 47%.

| Chemical Dependency (BHS 130- 3 credits) |
Sociological, psychological and physiological aspects of chemical abuse. Consideration of a variety of treatment programs offered in community agencies. Prerequisites: None.

| Counseling in Multicultural Setting (BHS 204- 3 credits) |
Values, perceptions, attitudes, behaviors emphasizing intercultural communication patterns. Techniques for establishing rapport and interaction methodologies in a multicultural context. Competencies, strategies, and treatment modalities necessary for the paraprofessional working successfullyu iwth the multicultural clients. Prerequisites: BHS101, and BHS151 or departmental approval.

| Case Report Writing (BHS 260- 1 credit) |
Terminology, technical forms and techniques of observation necessary to create and maintain records. Prerequisites: BHS151 or departmental approval.

| Child and Family Advocacy (BHS 290- 3 credits) |
Define and clarify the role of advocacy in relation to multiple systems affecting children and their families. Emphasis on identifying appropriate systems, community resources, wrap around theory and navigation skills in a variety of children's systems to facilitate family support and needs. Prerequisites: BHS105.
