- Counselors have a professional obligation to respect the confidentiality of individuals who use the services of the Counseling and Career Services Center. Information is not reported to or otherwise shared with any individuals or departments on campus.
- Utilizing the Counseling Center does not in any way affect a student's admission status, program eligibility, or grades. Counseling sessions are not recorded on a student's transcripts or official record.
- Students who desire verification of their counseling session must sign a "release of information" statement indicating to whom verification should be made.
- Exception to confidentiality: The general requirement that counselors keep information confidential does not apply when disclosure is required to prevent clear and imminent danger to the individual or others or when legal requirements demand that confidential information be revealed.
