Description of Test Content:
The HESI PN Exam is a computer-based test designed to assess basic knowledge of practical nursing. LPN applicants and transfer applicants requesting admission into Block 3 or Block 4 must achieve a score of 800 or higher on the HESI PN Exam to qualify for placement into Block 3 or Block 4. Applicants scoring less than the required score receive admission into Block 2 or equivalent for remediation of practical nursing content. Applicants can test only once to determine placement status.
Preparation & Remediation:
Applicants may review any PN-NLCEX Review Book to review practical nursing theory content.
NCLEX-PN Review courses may be available at GateWay Community College in January and May. The Nursing Program Advisors will have dates and times of the review course or access the web site www.nursinged.com.
Testing process Registration & Cost:
Testing is available at GateWay Community College, Glendale Community College, and Rio Salado College. The cost of the exam is $30.00. Each campus will have an instruction sheet detailing the process for paying, registering, and completing the HESI PN Exam.
Admission to the testing center for testing includes an acceptable photo ID and receipt for testing fee. Contact the testing center for more information.

Results:
Applicants must print the results of the HESI PN Exam before leaving the testing center. KEEP THE COPY. Applicants must include a copy of the HESI PN Exam in the Advanced Placement application.
Retesting:
No re-testing is permitted to determine placement status; however, the HESI PN Exam score is valid for 6 months. If time exceeds 6 months, applicants must re-test and the new score becomes the basis for placement.
