English as a Second Language


The Center for Learning offers "non-credit" English classes for students wishing to improve their English skills.

Weekday and Saturday classes are available. Classes range from "basic" for students new to the language, to "advanced" for students who want to strengthen their knowledge of the language.

Assessment is required for enrollment.  For information on class start dates and schedules, please call  623.845.3812 or stop by the Center for Learning (CL-36).

  • Oral discussion in pairs and small groupings 
  • Use of idioms and slang in spoken English
  • Share common interest
  • Participate in social events
Advanced I ESL Advanced II ESL
  • Make formal complaints in speech and writing 
  • Use modals or request, ability, and need 
  • Explain and follow a step-by-step activity
  • Use correct punctuation
  • Employ all English grammar tenses 
  • Write complete English sentences and paragraphs 
  • Engage in group conversation
  • Practice American idioms

Fall I Late Start Classes
Sept. 20th, 2004 - Oct. 28th, 2004 / 6 Weeks Monday - Thursday / Lunes a Jueves $60.00 plus the cost of books
Fall I Saturday Classes
Sept. 4th, 2004 - Nov. 20th, 2004 / 12 Weeks Saturdays / Sabado $45.00 plus the cost of books
