The Center for Learning (CFL) provides free support services for all credit GCC students to assist in improving student learning using multimedia materials and effective study strategies.

 To use videos and other media in the CFL, students need to:

LAC020-Test Taking Skills II: How Do I Know What To Study? (27 min.)
This video demonstrates the benefits of a study guide to reduce stress & gain mastery over important material. 
LAC021-Time Management (20 min.)
This video demonstrates how to maintain concentration, master procrastination, and meet schedules with a user-friendly calendar system. 
LAC022-Test Taking Skills I: How Do I Show What I Know? (29 min.)
This video demonstrates how to set up review activities including organizing materials, setting goals for each course, & dividing the work load into manageable pieces. 
LAC023-Lecture Note-Taking (27 min.)
This video introduces the Cornell method of notetaking & presents an easy-to-implement plan for assuring effective notes & an efficient study strategy. 
LAC024-This is a Test: This is Only a Test (30 min.)
This informative video teaches students the art of stress-free test-taking. Students learn how to put test-taking into its proper perspective. 
LAC025-This Way to an 'A': Effective Study Skills (30 min.)
Students learn proven techniques for studying, reviewing, and retaining information that fit into any lifestyle or class structure. 
LAC026-Effective Listening Skills (1 hr.)
This lesson discusses habits and traits that keep us from being good listeners and teaches improved listening skills. 
LAC027-Writing For Results (40 min.)
This informative lesson stresses that good writing skills are critical to job success. Students learn how to produce a winning written report. 
LAC 028-Constructive Communications: Talking Your Way to Success (30 min.)
This program guides viewers through an easy communication process. Students learn Constructive Communications by identifying their desired effect; understanding their audience; and explaining the subject. 
LAC 029-Memory Skills: Power Learning (25 min.)
This video is designed to teach viewers how to improve their ability to remember important information. To achieve this objective, viewers must watch the video and practice the exercises and techniques in the following weeks and months. 
LAC 030 - Stress (30 min.)
This program not only teaches the causes of stress but also specific techniques for getting it under control. The program thoroughly covers the psychological, physiological and emotional effects of too much stress using simple, clear language. 
LAC 150 Be Here Now (20 min.)
This tape features Be Here Now which is the technique students report most useful. By "being here now", students can be more successful in school, have more fun, improve relationships, and use time productively. 
LAC 151 - Love Your Problems (22 min.)
Rather than fighting problems or pretending they do not exist, students can learn to love them to death. Acknowledging problems and barriers can make nagging distractions disappear. 
LAC 152 - You Create It All (29 min.)
With You Create It All, students learn to take responsibility for their own academic achievement, give up their victim role and become more powerful. 
LAC153-Find A Bigger Problem (16 min.)
Need motivation? Want to stop procrastinating? This tape presents techniques that give students a reason to get up in the morning and help them make the most of their day. 
LAC154-Stress Management (24 min.)
Two components of stress, worry & tensions, are discussed on this tape. It reveals strategies for dealing with stress & guides students through a powerful relaxation technique. 
LAC155-Time Management (26 min.)
This video tape is full of practical techniques which students can begin to use immediately. It outlines four strategies involved in preparing for & taking tests. 
LAC156-Time Management (25 min.)
Dozens of suggestions for getting organized, working smarter, getting started on big projects, & eliminating procrastination are offered on this tape. It focuses on the basic tools of time management. 
LB-2395-Where There's A Will There's An 'A' (3 hrs.)
A step-by-step training program to help students achieve higher grades. This seminar teaches students to learn more in less time, with higher retention.
