Sherry Johnson is Director of The Children's Center. She has been with the program since 1988, and has worked in the field of early childhood education since 1980. Before coming to GCC, she was a teacher in family home child care, a parent-owned cooperative preschool, a church affiliated preschool, and the City of Phoenix Head Start. She is an adjunct faculty member in the Child/Family Studies Department of our campus, and provides early childhood training throughout the Valley. As a strong believer in the importance of quality early childhood education and family support, Sherry is an active member of the local affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. In 1992, she completed a Master of Science in Educational Leadership/Childcare Administration and continues her education through local, state, and national conferences and workshops.
Amy Gonzalez is a Lead Teacher in our program. She has been with the Center since 1987. She began as a student in the Child and Family Studies Department and has worked diligently to become an outstanding early childhood teacher. She earned her Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education and her Early Childhood Teaching Certificate from GCC in 1991. Although her background is strong, Amy continues to take advantage of local and national conferences and workshops to improve her skills and knowledge.
