Recreating your profile in Netscape
To restore your profiles in Netscape:
-
Click on the “Netscape User Profile Manager” icon, which should be in your
Applications folder on your desktop.
-
At the “Creating a New Profile” screen, select next twice to get
to the “Choose a Name and Directory….” Screen.
-
Enter a name for the profile that is the same as the profile you are moving
from your pre-imaged machine. (For example, if the pre-image profile
name was “User”, give the new profile that name.) (Hint: The
profile name will be the name of the folder you saved if you saved the
folder and all its contents after “C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\…”.)
-
Once you have finished this, Netscape probably will open. Close it
down.
-
Copy all the files and folders under the profile folder you saved from
the pre-imaged machine into the new folder at C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\(new
folder). Allow the copy to replace all the files and folders
in that folder.
-
To set up your bookmarks, go to Bookmarks | Edit Bookmarks | File
and use the Import command.
-
To set up your address book, go to Communicator | Address Book | File |
Import.
-
Now your preferences, email setup, news setup, etc. from the pre-image
will show up in the new image.
-
Repeat this for all other profiles you might have.
You can customize
the Message Center screen in Netscape Mail. If you want
to create a
new profile for Student Email, follow the instructions on Gecko.
