Non-standard software and document conversion instructions

=================

If you have other software on your machine (like PageMaker, Visual Basic, etc) and want it re-installed (and don’t have the software in hand), you will need to contact Lori Bush (53392) for the disks or CD’s.    List the software with version number that you have installed.  Note that older versions of campus software may not be Y2K compatible (including older versions of Filemaker Pro and Pagemaker).

Instructions for using Microsoft Word to create college letterhead, memos, flyers, and brochures have been written by Karen Russo and are available in Adobe Acrobat format for Windows and Macintosh users.  [giggle]  I created the  Macintosh  PDF file on a Windows computer, so it has dingbats in place of the official college font.  I'll correct it as soon as we get Adobe Acrobat for Macintosh!  Note:  Training & Employee Development has a very good workshop on using Word for desktop publishing.  Consult the TED Calendar for specific dates and times.

You may have downloaded software from the web and installed it on your machine as well.  If you want that software after the re-image, locate the pre-installed software and either back it up or note the web location.  In many cases, it is better to download new copies of the software, especially if a later version has been released.  Check out the GCC FTP site (ftp://maverick.gc.maricopa.edu/pub) for copies of standard utilities, or go to any of the software sites on the web.

On the Windows side, applications are now installed on your hard drive, rather than on the server.  This means that you can add plug-ins and other enhancements as you wish.
