Looking for your instructor? Most regular GCC employees (but not every hired person) are listed in our directory server. For help with spelling, try typing the first few letters only. Example: "smi" will locate employees named "Smith," but "smth" will not. If you are unable to look up your instructor here, please contact the instructor's department (see directory of faculty departments).

Looking for your instructor's course information? Many GCC faculty choose to include a link to their own web site in their directory listing, in order to share additional contact information, office hours, course materials, etc. Your course also may be listed among Flex Learning courses.

The "Find in Directory" function looks for matching names in this order, stopping the process when one of these criteria are met (i.e., all other criteria are then ignored):

1. Exact spelling of first and last name as listed in the directory:

   Example: john smith = John Smith

2. Match of first initial and last name:

   Example: j smith = Janice Smith, John Smith

3. Match of last name, where first and last names are entered:

   Example: somebody smith = Janice Smith, John Smith, Mary Smith

4. Match of partial text of first and last names, where some of each is entered:

   Example: j smi = J. Nesmit, Janice Smith, John Smith

   Note: the results are rarely complete if initials alone are provided.
   Also, both names must match: "m smi" will not locate "John Smith."

5. Match of exact text entered contained in any name:

   Example: john = Ann Johnson, John Smith, Johnny Williams

   Text searches which include a first and a last name, or a first initial with a last name, yield short lists of results. Shorter strings of text usually return longer lists of results, and in some cases will process slowly. The most convenient way to locate a name is to type a series of letters that is uncommon in most names, but included in the name you seek. For example, to find "Chris Zelwether" a search for "chris" will yield a long list of names, but a search for "zelwe" is likely to return "Chris Zelwether" alone if the name exists.

   Do you use the directory often? Drag this GCC Directory link into the Personal Toolbar section of your Netscape window, or this GCC Directory link into the Links Toolbar section of your Explorer window, to create a shortcut button there.

   To look for a name among other institutions of Maricopa Community Colleges, check the box next to "include the rest of Maricopa Community College District" just below the search interface before clicking the "Find in Directory" button. When this choice is specified, an abbreviation of each person's college or site appears in parentheses next to the person's name. These are abbreviations you might see for the colleges (and district office) in the Maricopa district:

   • (CGC) for Chandler-Gilbert Community College
   • (DSSC) for District Support Services Center
   • (EMC) for Estrella Mountain Community College
   • (GWC) for GateWay Community College
   • (GC) for Glendale Community College
   • (MC) for Mesa Community College
   • (PVC) for Paradise Valley Community College
   • (PC) for Phoenix College
   • (RIO) for Rio Salado College
   • (SC) for Scottsdale Community College
   • (SMC) for South Mountain Community College
   This directory interface does not display distribution lists, general services, and other entities which are not individual employees. Individual Maricopa employees are responsible for their listings in the source directory, aside from their e-mail addresses and listed titles.

   Note: GCC Office of Information Technology does not maintain, add to, nor update the source directory.

   Employees' Web Pages

   Links to employees' own web pages appear in the above directory display when such information is available. Many employees who maintain personal web pages have chosen not to add their web page information to this directory via the shared database. There is also an index of GCC Employee Web Sites taken from the same source directory. Employees may use the Personal Administration Tool to update directory information.
