CRYSTAL GROWTH AND HABITS  - Ajoite is usually found as acicular prismatic crystals or as small fibrous sprays.

COLOR AND OTHER OPTICAL PROPERTIES - Blue to bluish green, translucent

HARDNESS - The hardness has not been precisely determined but is believed to be around 3.5.

SPECIFIC GRAVITY - 2.95 - 2.96

LUSTER - Vitreous

STREAK - White

BREAKABILITY - Perfect cleavage along {010}  

OCCURRENCE - Ajoite is found in the oxidized zone of copper deposits.

ASSOCIATED MINERALS - Quartz, Shattuckite, Conichalcite, Pyrite, Papagoite

NAME - Named for its occurrence at Ajo, AZ.
