MISCELLANEOUS

This is a general view of an outcrop exposed along Interstate 40 near the Cholla Generating Plant.  It shows the Triassic Moenkopi Formation which is a deltaic accumulation of fine grained sands and mud.  It was also subject to desiccation and mudcracks and salt casts are frequently found in the formation.  This outcrop contains layers of nodular gypsum and greenish clay layers.
