CRYSTALLOGRAPHY - Orthorhombic

CRYSTAL GROWTH AND HABITS - Aurichalcite is commonly found as delicate acicular, elongated crystals forming tufted or feathery coatings.  It can also be granular.

COLOR AND OTHER OPTICAL PROPERTIES - Color ranges from sky blue to blue green or pale green.  Transluscent

HARDNESS -  1 - 2     

SPECIFIC GRAVITY - 3.6 - 4      

LUSTER - Silky to pearly

BREAKABILITY -   Nearly perfect cleavage {010}.  Brittle

OCCURRENCE -  Aurichalcite is a secondary mineral found in the oxidized zones of copper and zinc deposits.

ASSOCIATED MINERALS - Azurite, Malachite, Cuprite, Smithsonite, Hemimorphite, Hydrozincite, Limonite
