CRYSTAL GROWTH AND HABITS - Cornetite forms short, rounded prismatic crystals;  also small radial aggregates and crusts.

COLOR AND OPTICAL PROPERTIES - Bright blue to greenish blue.  Transparent to translucent.

HARDNESS - 4.5

SPECIFIC GRAVITY - 4.1

LUSTER - Vitreous

STREAK - Blue

BREAKABILITY - Still researching this one.

OCCURRENCE - Cornetite is a rare secondary mineral found in the oxidized zone of hydrothermal copper deposits.

ASSOCIATED MINERALS - Copper, Brochantite, Libethenite, Malachite, Atacamite, Chrysocolla.

MINERAL NAME - In honor of Jules Cornet a Belgian geologist.
