Drumlins are streamlined glacial deposits. They are the form of an inverted spoon with the blunt end facing into the advancing ice. They consist primarily of unconsolidated till (very poorly sorted). Drumlins normally occur in groups or "fields" that may be only a few to many hundreds. These example are of the drumlin field of central New York (near Rochester). The view is looking north and the time of the photos was about 5 PM local time on November 24, 2005. For large images, follow the link to "Drumlin Pictures" in the left margin.
