OLIVINE1J.jpg (222660 bytes)  This gem variety of OLIVINE is called Peridot.  It has a "Coke bottle" green color.

AUGITE1J.jpg (173566 bytes) AUGITE is a member of the Pyroxene Group.  It is dark in color and has 2 cleavage directions that meet at about a 90 degree angle.

PYRITE2.jpg (128856 bytes) PYRITE is also called "Fool's Gold" because it is often mistaken for gold.  Pyrite, however, is brittle and powders when hit with a hammer.  It also has a greater hardness than gold and has a lower specific gravity.
