Course Prerequisites

	ENG 101 (3 credits) Online ENG101 students must score a 41 or higher on the ASSET or CELSA placement test or complete ENG071 with a C or better before registering for ENG101.
	ENG 102 (3 credits) Online ENG102 students must complete ENG101 with a grade of C or better before registering for ENG102.

Hardware Requirements

You need the equipment below as a minimum. Newer, faster, higher versions will usually work better. Most online students work from a home computer. Computers are available for student use 7 days a week in the High Tech Centers [view map]. View the hours the High Tech Centers are open.

Software Requirements

You need this software on your computer:

	An account with an Internet Service Provider (we do not recommend AOL as students have problems connecting to many websites using the AOL browser);
	Internet Explorer 6.0 (updated) or Netscape 7.2 (javascript and cookies must be enabled);
	GCC students have free email accounts;
	Word Processing software (Microsoft Word is recommended).

Most online English department courses use Blackboard which can be accessed through your web browser.
