Below are links and information for contacting GCC people for assistance in Teaching and Learning. "I
need help for my students with physical or learning disabilities." Disabilities
Services and Resources "I
want to assess my students' performances in my classroom." Your first stop is your department chair. He or she can assist you with formal ways to assess one or both of the issues above. Another
place of assistance is the Faculty Development group.
They offer peer mentors, grant assistance, syllabus information, a turtorial
on sexual harrassment, software training workshops, interest group meetings
and personal assistance in most faculty development subjects. "
I want to explore current instructional issues, research academic
topics or studies, or discuss team teaching possibilities." The following groups can help you research, discuss or join a group on most current and future instructional techniques and issues. GCC's Learning Communities can help you "link up" to a team teaching partner. Faculty

Media Center The FCC Team can also assist you one-on-one. "I
want to integrate technology into
a course." Innovation
Center (assistance with technology-based instruction,
Palette issues, online exams, web pages, discussion boards, Blackboard,
podcasting, laptops, cameras, and computerized tests in a proctored
testing center. The
Media Center will assist you in preparing audio-visual
materials, provides AV equipment, handles video and photography
requests, instructional video purchases, and assists with copyright
issues.They also offer media duplication and enlargements,
lamination and color photocopying
for a fee. The FCC Team can also assist you one-on-one. "I want to adopt a new textbook for my course." You will need to contact your department chair and/or the department manager. Provide the title, the author(s), version number, Publisher and the ISBN number. Make certain you identify which course for which the textbook is needed and if you also want accompanying workbooks (Provide title and ISBN#). Also identify if you need instructor copies of each textbook and accompanying materials. "I need help to customize my syllabus, course curriculum or individual assignments." Your department chair can provide you with sample syllabi and connect you with other instructors teaching the same course. The
Training and Employee Development Center (TED) offers assistance
on a variety of topics on an individual basis through its TED2U program. The FCC Team can also assist you one-on-one. "I
have some students who missed a test and I want to arrange for them
to make up the test outside of class." GCC's
Center for
Learning will give the test and monitor the student(s). The
Center also offers tutoring in ESL and any subject except math (see
Math Solution below for math tutoring). For
Math tutoring, contact the Math Department's Math Solution
tutoring center: "I am a new instructor or an adjunct instructor, and I don't know where to start on tapping into campus resources." You've chosen a good start by looking at the FCC Resources page. We can help you, also, on an individual basis.We also provide seminars and workshops specific to faculty needs. See our home page to link to the specific activities. Your department chair and department office manager can also be a great help. The
Faculty Development group can also help you personally
or set you up with a mentor to assist you.The group
also sets up specific interest groups on academic topics
and needs. |
