Getting to know ... Juan Flowers

Certified Police Officer Juan Flowers
Certified Police Officer Juan Flowers has worked in GCC's Public Safety Department since May 2008 and loves it! He and his family moved to Arizona from Milwaukee, where he received his police training and had his first police employment.

He and his wife, Teresa, have three children: Selena, 13, Brandon, 12, and Nadia, 8. Flowers straightforwardly said, "My family always comes first!" He considers his happy family his greatest achievement.

His dream job: "Singing worship music."

His favorite book: "I can't pick a particular one, but I like to read books that are positive and motivational. I particularly like biographies of people who have survived and achieved great things."

His favorite movie: "Believe it or not, it's The Wizard of Oz. I've seen it many times and still love it every time."

The biggest challenge he's overcome in his life so far: "Learning to trust absolutely that God has a good plan for my life."

The living person he's most like to talk to: "Michael Jordan."

His favorite place to eat out: "It's a restaurant that I miss in Milwaukee called Kopp's that has awesome burgers and custard ice cream.

His leisure time activities: "I bought a baby-grand piano in Milwaukee and brought it to Arizona with me. I finally am taking piano lessons. I love to sing worship music and also want to learn to play or write it."

Something most people don't know about him: "My friends might laugh, but I love the songs of Barry Manilow – especially the slow, mellow, romantic ones. I always sang Mandy and I Write the Songs to all three of my kids when they were babies and I was rocking them to sleep."

What he'd change about himself if he could: "My tendency to procrastinate."

What he dislikes in others: "People who do severe injustices to others."
